Car Worship
One way that I love to spend time with the Lord is by playing worship music, specifically in the car. Recently, when I began to play these songs I began to wrestle with whether or not I was truly encountering the Lord. Not only was I wondering if I was encountering the Lord, but I was wondering if I was truly glorifying him.
As I wrestled with this question, I began to consider why somebody might stop listening to secular music. Well, if you are a Christian, you might stop listening to music because it does not glorify the Lord and causes them to feel further away from him, fixing their thoughts and treasures on worldly concepts and things. While thinking about the fact that people might stop listening to secular music because they want to glorify God, God gave me an abundance of clarity to my original question.
I listen to worship music because I want to sing about who the Lord is and his kindness, and when I am speaking and desiring to be with the Lord, he hears my heart. I often think of Matthew 5, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be satisfied,” I feel like this verse relates to me because I want to bless the Lord and spend every moment with Him that I possibly can. So when I am singing and enjoying my time in the car, what a gift it is that I can be in His presence and in conversation with Him even through song.
One song that I love to sing every morning that really sets the foundation of my day is “Here Again” by Elevation Worship. This song says, “All I want is all you are, would you meet me here again?” I think the world often confines these songs to church, but they should be played just as much, if not more, than worldly songs because what a gift that the Lord wants to be in our presence, even in SONG!! God is so good and so kind and really wants to be in every moment of our lives big, small, sad, anxious, angry, all the feelings and moments!
